It's Not About You!
by jodi lynn lamure
As many of you know in May I released a book. First of all I want to thank the many of you who purchased it because I am completely aware of what a mess it was. I have taken it off the shelves and recreated it with the help of a fantastic editor, Karen Newcombe of Deerfield Beach. She has really helped transform the layout, pushed me to add more exercises and clarified the voice of the message. I am very excited to say, it is getting close to being rereleased under a slightly different title, Embracing The Spark. I hope those of you have a copy of the original contact me so I can get you a new version of the book on me. Think of the first one as a collector's item and the ramblings of a loving, creative mind.
I also currently have the opportunity to send a proposal for Embracing The Spark to an extremely large publisher this month. For those of you who don't know what this is like, let me tell you what is required- absolute scrutiny of your book and self. I have to share what kind of platform I have in place. What that means is each one of the people who support me, follow me and fan me become a number to represent my worth to some degree. They want to know my professional qualifications I have attained. Publishers want to purchase a package more often than just a great book.
Needless to say, this has been one of those times where I feel like I am on the rollercoaster. Click, click, click, I ride up the steep incline to one of the greatest falls of my life. I look at myself with eyes of society, no degrees or letters attached to the end of my name, no great number of followers or fans. I am a new voice, not a package on paper screaming dollar bills. Click, click, click the fear is setting in. The insecurity is growing. The question that is being asked of me keeps repeating in my head. "What makes you the most qualified to offer this message?" Then just as I approach the top of the highest track, it happens.
You know how right before the rollercoaster barrels down from that peak you have just slowly climbed, you find that one moment of hanging stillness and quiet as the machine switches from pushing you up the hill to allowing momentum to take its course- that's when I heard it.
"It's not about you."
It's not about me! Oh, thank goodness. That's right. It's not. It's not about how big your platform is. It's not about how someone else views you. It's not about how qualified you are.
It's about this magnificent message from Spirit. A message about change. Change that is so necessary and desired on the planet right now. It's about the remembrance of this most powerful tool Spirit has given each one of us to live our lives, our purpose, and our own unique dance with the world around us. What makes us qualified? We were all born that way! No matter how insignificant the world around us can attempt to make us feel, you are not in any way insignificant. You are necessary and connected to each and every person you come in or yet to have come in contact with, whether you realize it or not. Every experience you experience is meant to be shared. These experiences are not insignificant or unrelated and are always a gift!
We are all born as a loving, creative beings, capable of building our dreams into a physical reality! What could be a more significant qualification than this? You were given these most precious gifts because it's not about you. Your purpose is for someone else. The thing that will bring each of us the most joy and abundant living is what is meant for you to share.
It's about All That Is!
